CRISMED Annual Research and Education Symposium (CARES) traces its origins to 2014, when it began as Compendium an initiative envisioned by the then Deputy Director, Dr Jeyaraj; The Principal at the time, Dr Bobby John; and a committed team of faculty members. Their vision was simple yet profound: to create a platform where research could be shared, celebrated, and used to inspire. In 2015, Compendium evolved into a full-fledged symposium, introducing its first competitive category, Original Research. What began as a poster-based event steadily grew in both scale and scope. By 2017, the symposium expanded to include additional competitive categories, such as Public Research, supported by a dedicated core faculty committee that curated submissions from across Christian Medical College Ludhiana. Like many academic activities worldwide, CARES was paused during the COVID-19 pandemic. However, in 2025, it was revived by the CSRC as the 6th CARES Symposium, marking a renewed commitment to fostering undergraduate research and academic excellence.

Building on the legacy, CARES - The 7th CRISMED Annual Research & Education Symposium is scheduled to be held from 30th April to 2nd May 2026 at CMC Ludhiana. The symposium will continue to provide a vibrant platform for students and researchers to present their work, exchange ideas and foster innovation in medical research and education. For the first time, CARES 2026 is going to be a 3-day symposium expanding opportunities for research presentation and academic discussions. This event aims further to strengthen the culture of undergraduate research and academic excellence.
